Melanie’s Banana Bread

  • 4 Ounces Butter
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 6 Mashed Bananas
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 1/2 Cup Self-Raising flour
  • 2 Eggs


  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Add eggs and bananas.
  • Dissolve baking soda and milk (add alternating with the flour).
  • Put in well greased pan and bake at 350° for 30 to 40 minutes.

Having made this recipe well over a hundred times, one thing I’ve learned is the older the bananas, the better! If you’re in a decadent mood, try pouring hot dulce de leche on the top. (But beware; said addition might have you polishing off the entire cake in one sitting.)
